T-Mobile CZ and Slovak Telekom – closely collaborating sister companies – decided to innovate their internal operations and implement agile management principles and practices. The agile transformation involved a series of significant changes, including adjustments to the organizational structure and work management processes, as well as the deployment of appropriate tool support. Based on a successful previous collaboration, they selected MoroSystems for the selection and implementation of the tool support, specifically the Atlassian platform.
Finding the optimal tool support
Our goal was to work with the client to select and implement tool support that would best align with the process and organizational setup they decided to adopt for their agile transformation. We explored and verified available solutions from the Atlassian ecosystem and defined necessary configurations and extensions. We aimed to ensure that the new tool would effectively support a hybrid management model, combining both traditional/predictive and agile approaches. Moreover, we needed to ensure that the tool allowed for smooth process flow across multiple divisions and companies operating within the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Collaborative team and practical approach
At the core of our approach was a collaborative team and a practically oriented methodology. A key element was validating and piloting tools in a real-world environment. Our task was to test potential tools directly within the client’s environment, addressing the needs of various (specifically working) teams and departments. For example, we piloted Jira Align – a tool for supporting highly scaled agile environments and their key processes. Practical validation allowed us to identify and exclude tools and practices that would be unsuitable for end-user needs or would force the client to adjust their organizational and process setup, which would not have been ideal.
Effective tool support and process simplification
Through our collaboration with T-Mobile CZ & Slovak Telekom, we were able to provide effective tool support for the company’s new setup and finalize key elements of the agile way of working. One example is the introduction of a scoring and discovery process in Structure, which allows divisions to efficiently select and prioritize development activities directly in the environment where their execution is subsequently managed. This also eliminated proprietary solutions outside the system and simplified related processes.
