But at Elevate \u201926, the discussion was far more candid. Rather than mechanically transferring everything across, they opted for a greenfield strategy and started afresh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Denisa explained during the discussion, years of use had left their on-premise system cluttered with features nobody used, hundreds of custom fields, and overly complex workflows. Bringing all of that baggage into the cloud would have meant missing the point of the move altogether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lesson here is straightforward:<\/strong> Simplifying a system is not only about performance. Denisa pointed out that, in a period of high staff turnover, having an intuitive environment is essential if new colleagues are to get up to speed quickly. A complicated system only gets in the way. It also takes a degree of courage to cut things back. There is no economic sense in migrating technical debt. If a process does not work on-premise, it will not somehow start working simply because it has been moved to the cloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For them, the motivation was not only about access to new features, but also about how they used their internal resources. Y Soft\u2019s IT team wanted to stop being responsible for running the system itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V\u00e1clav\u2019s point was simple enough: IT should not be spending its time patching servers and dealing with manual weekend upgrades. Its role is to deliver value to the business. By moving to the cloud and handing management over to a partner, they reached a stage where they only deal with first-line support and process automation.
